University of the Incarnate Word

San Antonio TX

The renovated concert hall at the University of the Incarnate Word is part of the new, 55,000 square foot Fine Arts Complex, which includes a music building with recording studios, and an art building with galleries. The  City of San Antonio will include those galleries and performance halls in its cultural arts district, which spans from the Tobin Center downtown up Broadway to the McNay Arts Museum.   The Russ Berger Design Group provided extensive acoustical treatments that deliver exceptional clarity throughout the volume. The E-coustic System enables the venue to accommodate a wide range of programming that includes both new artists in residence as well as University ensembles and faculty. Professors say it gives students a better opportunity to connect with professionals in their fields and prepare for their futures. “This is now a mid-size concert hall that the City of San Antonio does not have," said William Gokelman, UIW department of Music. "For those performances that can't happen in the Tobin Center, it's too big a space or it’s not appropriate, they now have a place to come."
